Economic Development and Legal Reform

The Commonwealth includes some of the poorest countries in the world.  Weak legal institutions are also a serious issue for many Commonwealth countries and can hinder economic and social development.  CPSU looks at ways to improve the civil and economic development of poorer nations, including the role that business and richer countries can play in this.  We have recently run projects on enhancing the benefits of Foreign Direct Investment by Corporate Social Responsibility and improving policing in Commonwealth Countries.
